Loved this book! The title Beach Music conjured up a light, airy summer read but this book is anything but. The book starts out in Rome, one of my favorite cities, travels to South Carolina, and then back to Rome. Chronologically, the book starts in present day, covers WWII and the holocaust, the 60s and Vietnam, and finally back to present day/5.   Praise for Beach Music “Astonishing stunning The range of passions and subjects that bring life to every page is almost endless.”—The Washington Post Book World “Magnificent clearly Conroy’s best.”—San Francisco Chronicle “Blockbuster writing at its best.”—Los Angeles Times Book Review/5().

Find books like Beach Music from the world’s largest community of readers. Goodreads members who liked Beach Music also liked: Outer Banks, Colony, Tell. The Carolina kids escaped to the beach, away from their parents, preachers & teachers, to party, drink & dance to their beloved music. Beach Music has evolved over the years and is still going strong today 60 years later in the Southeast. Although most of the music on this list is over 40 years old, Beach Music is truly a timeless culture.

Although BEACH MUSIC is a long and complicated book, almost overloaded with characters and anecdotes, it is unified by a single theme: the abuse of power. This evil tendency in human nature. Editor's note: This review of the novel "Beach Music" was originally published in The Times on J Pat Conroy, 70, died Friday in Beaufort, South Carolina.
